It’s got a heavier sound than most of the rest of the album but that is a good thing. Retrospect, I believe, is Vistas best-known song. If you can imagine what that sounds like, then you’re mental. It has a bombastic bassline, a skreeeeeing shred of Stratocasters mixed with a delicious drum beat that makes the EastEnders ‘duff duff’ sound like a butterfly trying to whack a bongo. It’s a big old happy party and we’re all invited (socially distant, of course). It’s one of them songs that has audience participation at its core. The album keeps moving on, pushing through the uncertain present to paint a picture of a shiny future. It might sound a hard act to follow in the footsteps of Orange Juice, Primal Scream and Franz Ferdinand but Vistas are on the verge of victory, their brand of poppy tunes is a great tonic to the dismal year we’ve all witnessed so far. This band are the latest in a line of superlative Scottish indie rock. The song 15 Years rattles along at the pace of a jumpy, thumpy groovy train. thank you all for listening □ /DCXUGwNRbC that song really kicked things off for us. ‘retrospect’ has over 9 million streams on spotify which is mad. The song has a real romantic-comedy feel to it which is always good news to me. Oh yeah, fun fact, the man who plays Simon’s dad in the Inbetweeners is in the video. They’ll be up, strutting their shoe leather across the kitchen lino, trust me. The refrain of ‘hey hey’ is enough to make even someone really boring start tapping their feet. My personal favourite is Sucker, listen to it and you’ll see what I mean. It sparkles like a fine bit of fizz, hitting the ears with a big smile. This is followed by Teenage Blues, which bubbles along like a mint aero in a bath tub (I have no idea what that is supposed to mean). Let’s dive right into the action with the title track, Everything Changes in the End, a slice of bright and breezy pop perfection. The band make anthemic music at pogoing pace with catchy choruses and charming lyrics. They have been a staple of my lockdown playlist alongside Clean Cut Kid and Sundara Karma. The sound of this three-piece is sweet, sugary indie rock straight from the streets of gloomy Glasgow. What Were You Hoping To Find? is out this Friday.A dazzling blue sky complete with fluffy clouds of magnificent magnolia sets the scene on the cover of Scottish indie band Vistas debut album. It’s not pushing the boundaries too far, but it’s doing its job faultlessly – and we just know it’s going to be euphoric to catch live, arms around strangers yelling along to every word. What Were You Hoping To Find? lives up to its title – Vistas know what we love about them, and they’re doing it better than ever. They aptly prepared us for this kind of contrast in the likes of Young Forever, another cut that’s sonically bright and lyrically a little darker. It’s optimistic still, but it’s real and reflective too – and that’s what makes it a truly cathartic moment as powerful as Vistas have ever delivered. Feels Like Falling boasts one of the album’s most expansive moments, with an intro that starts gently then skyrockets into, dare we say, Vistas’s most anthemic tune yet? The guitars totally soar, and they’re set against lyrics that are play up the introspection that Vistas have always leant into. The progression of What Were You Hoping To Find? is definitely in the moments where Vistas let a more melancholy moment peep through – and there’s definitely a few clouds in this blue sky. And lots of WWYHTF? follows suit – in the groove of Upside, just made to get a crowd on their feet, the breezy melodies of early single Stuck In Your Head and Start Again, and so much of the record, it’s clear that Vistas are masters of striking the balance between big old gang vocal explosions and comparatively stripped-back sections that leave the focus on their unfailingly bright hooks. Vistas have long been nailing the lighthearted guitar tunes niche – it’s near impossible not to feel the corners of your mouth itching to break into a big grin when you stick on the likes of 15 Years, or anything off ECITE, in fact. Vistas broke into the gang firmly with last year’s debut album Everything Changes In The End, and on this summer’s What Were You Hoping To Find? they’ve surged on and broadened their sound to fit the growing crowds they’re playing for. Those festival favourites – your Circa Waves, your Sea Girls, your singalong favourites, the ones you know are always worth catching because they’re so consistent with that happy buzzy summer vibe. The sunny indie crowd need to be taking notes from Vistas. Install additional Python packages to a virtual environment. During this time, VSS writes the file system buffs in memory to the hard disk to ensure file consistency on the hard disk. VSS suspends the writer and requestor for a few seconds to create a volume shadow copy.Writer starts making preparations, such as writing the contents of the memory to the database, writing the contents of the logs to the database, and so on.VSS informs the application Writer to prepare for volume shadow replication.Requestor asks VSS to enumerate writers and their metadata in preparation for volume shadow replication.Basic Process of Creating Volume Shadow Copy Storage volume: The data volume that provides the provider with the copy-on-write files. Source volume: Contains the data volumes that need to be backed up. #Windows shadow copy space requirements softwareThis can be implemented through the operating system, hardware, or the software itself. Providers: Components that create and maintain volume shadow copies. Database level applications generally have their own Writers, such as Exchange, SQL, AD, etc. Writers: First and foremost, they are part of the application to ensure that the data at the application level is intact and consistent when doing volume shadow replication. Requestors: Programs that initiate volume shadow replication, usually backup programs. The advantage of this method is that it requires little additional storage space, but the disadvantage is that there are additional read and write operations on the source volume, and the data on the source volume must still be there when data recovery is done. Using the data in the source volume and the differential data, we logically have a source volume at some previous point in time. When a write operation occurs on a volume that needs to be copied, the block being written to is first copied to another location where the differential data is stored, and the operation is indexed and logged. This method can also be implemented in software or hardware. The data of the 2 sides are identical until the synchronization connection is broken, and the data of the target volume and the source volume remain independent and read-only after the synchronization connection is broken. Synchronize the source and target volumes by software or hardware. 2 Methods of Creating Volume Shadow Copies #Windows shadow copy space requirements fullAmong them, full backups take too long, and incremental and differential backups usually require third-party software support. In the field of backup, traditional backup solutions are generally full backup, incremental backup and differential backup. This allows end users to safely work with files and restore to earlier versions at any time without the need for IT intervention. VSS gives administrators the ability to publish shared folders on the server and make point-in-time backups at certain intervals (up to 65 copies can exist for a specified period of time). These 2 key features help users recover accidentally deleted files even without efficient backup policies. #Windows shadow copy space requirements manualWhen users need to retrieve data, they need to ask technical support staff to perform manual recovery, which can be quite time-consuming.Īnd by using VSS you can create data copy points on specific volumes, so that you can restore data to a previous state on demand in the future. It is not uncommon that users inadvertently store files with incorrect information, accidentally delete files, or suffer other data issues. In the IT field, many resources are used for backup and recovery of various systems. What VSS Can DoĪ new technology always appears to solve an existing problem. In fact, VSS also provides large enterprises with more recovery options than the basic tools and helps them reduce the number of IT professionals in data recovery tasks. In addition, VSS provides a more flexible backup solution, which gives even small businesses the ability to recover lost data. #Windows shadow copy space requirements windowsVolume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) is a service introduced by Microsoft in Windows Server 2003 to make it easier for users to recover lost files without the assistance of IT professionals. So what exactly is VSS, and how does it work? In Windows 2008, even the system's own backup tool has been replaced with a VSS version. In recent years, Microsoft has been supporting VSS in more and more of its first-line products, including Exchange, SQL, AD, DPM, and so on. VSS (Volume Shadow Copy Service) is actually not a new technology, as Windows 2003 and Windows XP SP1, released around 2003, both provide support for VSS. The decision system, accompanied by troubling imagery and constant moral compass bickering by your squad-mates, instead serves to deliver the horror of war to your conscious mind - hoping to make you feel as your character feels. You'll still be headed in the same general linear path. The game does not depend on the decisions to guide the gameplay either that part won't be affected. Unlike many games that have decision-based systems, most of them being RPGs such as Fable, there is no good or bad. As far as gameplay, Spec Ops: The Line is an over-the-shoulder third person shooter, but as far as in-war morality it tests a new dimension of decision making. There is no moral compass here kill everything. Then there is the pure chaos in form delivered by over-the-shoulder shooters like Gears of War. Though that intensity comes less from the impression of urgency or morality and more from the blood and sheer volume of enemies. The intensity in the way-too-short campaigns of the latest Call of Duty franchise entries has been powerful. This game does something unique, handles its truly mature themes well, and despite what I think are some minor missteps, it has an overall message that should be heard by all. That's not to say that games haven't been trying. Like in any good story, character arcs drive the basis of the plotline, and there are many memorable quotes throughout due to the excellent, convincing voice acting. As for replayability, the story is extremely detailed underneath the surface, and on a new playthrough you'll start seeing that more and more. An optional, publisher-mandated feature that goes against the message of the game, along with the fact that the servers have long since been completely empty, doesn't negate anything in the rest of the experience for me. #Spec ops the line gamespot freeThe multiplayer is terrible, but I honestly don't think it can be considered a reviewable part of the game, just as the free co-op DLC can't be. The main function of the interactivity is to make the player an active participant in all events of the game, so that the player's moral choices are organic and meaningful, and therefore the final conclusion that you come to is all your own. The gameplay is generic, but it plays an essential part of enticing players into thinking the game itself will be generic too. Spec Ops: The Line is a must play, does something that is groundbreaking for the genre it is set in, and has spawned countless meaningful discussions well after its release. My favorite Murphy character was always Gumby, a surreal take on the beloved Claymation character that turned him into a cigar-chomping Hollywood lifer, a cynical and verbally abusive performer fond of yelling, “I’m Gumby, dammit!” Rather than being shoehorned into a sketch, Murphy’s Gumby dropped by the Weekend Update desk to berate the hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che about his lack of screen time, screaming, “The two of you together couldn’t Velcro my sneakers” and, in one particularly inspired moment, derisively calling Jost a “headshot.” Che and Jost’s excitement the whole time was noticeable, and their usual joke-telling had a little more pep. Read: The genius of that ‘SNL’ skit on race Velvet Jones, a trashy self-help author whose sexual politics were out of date even in the ’80s, participated in the recurring sketch Black Jeopardy where the host (played by Kenan Thompson) had to keep reminding him that times had changed. Buckwheat, the parody of a The Little Rascals character that became so notorious that Murphy eventually killed him off during his SNL run, returned from the dead as a participant in a very 2019 showcase for celebrity hangers-on, Fox’s The Masked Singer. Robinson, who once sang stilted children’s songs about living in a bad neighborhood, stealing groceries, and dodging slumlords, now mocked the gentrification going on around him and antagonized his cloying yuppie neighbors. One could argue that almost all of Murphy’s recurring SNL favorites are somewhat out of date, but the show found cheeky and clever ways to acknowledge that each time. Robinson’s Neighborhood,” his classic parody of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, was the first of several venerable Murphy acts to come back for a victory lap, and it’s clear how much fun Murphy and the writers had in finding new ways to fit his old favorites into the modern world. The first sketch after the monologue assuaged any lingering doubts that Murphy wouldn’t be 100 percent committed to the material. Read: Woody Harrelson is a surprisingly effective Joe Biden for ‘SNL’ “Right now you’re looking at half of Netflix’s budget, right here onstage,” Chappelle cracked. But his mood was offset by the guest appearances of Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, and Tracy Morgan, who gathered with Murphy onstage to soak in the excitement of his return and to acknowledge his influence on their careers. Murphy fired off a couple of solid jokes last night (“I have 10 kids now-11 if you count Kevin Hart”), though he still projected the low-key serenity he had at SNL 40. But it also suggested, perhaps unfairly, that his sketch days were behind him, that he could no longer harness the intense energy that had made him such a unique comedy star decades before. It was a strange moment of introspection in an evening of goofy laughs. Murphy’s only other appearance at Studio 8H since his official departure was for the show’s special 40th-anniversary celebration four years ago, where he delivered an awkward, rather serious monologue after declining to perform a sketch about Bill Cosby that had been written for him. That history didn’t matter last night-Murphy barely missed a step, throwing himself into every sketch with unguarded delight. For four years, Murphy was a sensation on the show, even hosting once and notoriously proclaiming, “Live from New York, it’s the Eddie Murphy show!” He left SNL in April 1984 and hosted once more the following December, but after that he never returned to host, with his public persona growing more prickly over the years. Hired at the age of 19, Murphy was an instant phenomenon during SNL’s rocky early ’80s seasons, after Lorne Michaels departed along with the program’s original stars. SNL is often guilty of too much nostalgia, but last night’s episode was a special one, deserving as much retrospective joy as possible. After starting with a cucumber-cool monologue, Murphy dialed his vigor right back up to his heyday as a sketch performer. The excitement in Studio 8H was palpable, and the crowd’s reaction to each laugh line crackled with joy. This week, with Eddie Murphy’s first appearance in 35 years on the show that launched the comedian to fame, it was easy to tell. This may sound like a trite observation, but Saturday Night Live works best when you can tell it’s playing to a live audience. |
